The kids’ series

Wee Wee Kazoo

Written for one real little girl, so she would hear her own name in a song.

A purple kazoo, light-up pink shoes, and absolutely no idea what “inside voice” means.

Why it exists

Kids’ songs usually sing about children. These ones sing to her.

The whole series is written as if the singers are talking straight to her — so she is not listening to a song, she is in it. Strawberries and ice cream, riding her bike, the pool, the kazoo she will not put down. It started as songs. Then it became books.

Who is in it

Wee Wee Kazoo

Blonde bob, pink flower clip, pink tee, black leggings, pink sneakers. Purple kazoo, permanently. Three years old and running.

New — not in the books yet

Firecracker

Her little sister. Long wavy ginger hair, a gold star clip, freckles, a red horn-shaped kazoo. Announces herself with “BEEP BEEP! HERE I COME!” A bulldozer, affectionately. She is the newest character in the series — she has not turned up in a book yet.

Whipplethorne

A fox. Steady where the girls are not. He turns up wherever the puffballs are.

Cheesy & friends

A cheese-wedge who needs to get back home to the moon, a dog in a wizard hat, and a corgi. The parade would not work without them.
